visions of licorice jawbreakers

sober is the longest season in the winter.

holiday the holidays when i inhale

a mason jar of anise seeds. i am

home, (home is where your internal

organs are?       no home

is in your fist &             i am in your palm.

shooting absinthe & passing

out on a vintage star.

                                           oh halogen night

                                            blue is the brightest

                                           light in december

you are a vision / i am eating

sugar plums. you are soft / i am a licorice

jawbreaker. & i never bring

you anything.

in the woodshed : an apple & a lighter. in the garden

: there's no romantic spark,

but you're so electric to me.

i'm a damn fine time, over

crepes & maple syrup. miraculously low

tolerance & i'm a sure fine time.

then you're sober as a string of white christmas.

"are you still alive?" & you are alright by me. yeah you are

alright and luminescent against the wood panelling. i assure you

my shoulders are so big

i couldn't drown in the toilet if i tried.

                                                (& i am so fragile

climbing out of this blue bulb, so combustible

                            i can't put myself out

but i try
